Visionary and prolific, Karim Rashid is one of the most distinctive and influential voices in design today. With over 4,000 designs in production, more than 400 international awards, and projects realized in over 47 countries, he continues to redefine the role of design in contemporary life.
Karim’s work spans an extraordinary range of typologies. He has created luxury objects for Christofle, Alessi, Veuve Clicquot, Georg Jensen, and Swarovski, democratic products for Umbra, Paul Mitchell, Coway, Eos, and 3M, and timeless furniture for Bonaldo, BoConcept, Tonelli, Kare, MIDJ, Riva1920, and Natuzzi. His lighting designs for Artemide, Fontana Arte, Kundalini, and Martinelli Luce embody his fascination with atmosphere and technology, while his branding for Hugo Boss and Citibank and packaging for Sustain, Method, Pepsi, Kenzo, and Issey Miyake prove that even the most practical applications can carry an iconic design language.
Beyond objects, Karim has shaped interiors and architectural projects around the world. His work includes hotels for Radisson, Temptation Resorts, Minor, restaurants such as Switch in the UAE, Morimoto and Jean Jorges market in USA, and residential projects for Related Group in Miami. Public spaces, such as the Università Metro Station in Naples, further demonstrate his belief that design should be democratic, experiential, and transformative. For Karim, spaces must not only function but also evoke emotion and elevate daily life.
Karim’s contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including the American Prize for Design Lifetime Achievement Award, multiple Red Dot, iF, IDA, Good Design Awards, the IDSA Industrial Design Excellence Award, and the Pentawards. His work is represented in 20 permanent collections worldwide, including MoMA, the Centre Pompidou, and the Brooklyn Museum, and he has exhibited major retrospectives in São Paulo, Seoul, Milan, and Ottawa.
In addition to his design practice, Karim is also a frequent keynote speaker at international events and design fairs, including Interihotel, Ambiente, ICFF, High Point, NeoCon, NYCXDesign and IDS, as well as worldwide design weeks such as Milan, Dubai, Caracas, Porto and Auckland. Through these appearances, he continues to share his philosophy and inspire audiences to embrace design as a vital part of contemporary culture.
